A village inside the suburbs
Old Malden is older than its bigger neighbour New Malden. The medieval church of St John the Baptist stands near the Hogsmill, and Old Malden Lane still winds past it. Most of the area, though, is quiet 1930s housing, built after the railway arrived. The Hogsmill valley runs along the western edge, with a riverside path and open fields at Tolworth Court Farm.
Malden Manor station
Malden Manor station is on the branch line from Chessington through Tolworth to Waterloo. Trains are regular, but the station is small and has no taxi rank. For early trains, late returns or journeys with luggage, a pre-booked car is the simplest option. We can also take you to Surbiton or New Malden station, which have more frequent trains.

Short journeys are fine
Because Old Malden is so close to our base, many bookings here are short. We are happy to do them. Every trip has a fixed fare agreed when you book, so you know the cost before the car arrives.
Older residents in particular often use us for GP visits, hospital appointments, shopping and church, and many book the same trip each week.
When the branch line is closed
The Chessington branch line through Malden Manor and Tolworth is sometimes closed at weekends for engineering works, with replacement buses instead of trains. Those buses are slow and do not suit everyone, especially with luggage or young children. If your trip into London falls on a closure weekend, a car to Surbiton or New Malden, where the main line is usually still running, can keep your journey on track. You can also book a car all the way into town, for example to Waterloo. Check the South Western Railway website for planned works before you travel.
