A taxi from Tolworth to King's Cross crosses almost the whole of London, from the south-west suburbs to the northern edge of the city centre. It is one of our longer station runs, and it is most popular with people catching long-distance trains to Yorkshire, the north-east and Scotland with heavy bags.
Trains from King's Cross, and St Pancras next door
King's Cross is the London terminal for the East Coast Main Line. LNER runs trains from here to Peterborough, Leeds, York, Newcastle and Edinburgh, and other operators run to places such as Hull, Sunderland and Cambridge. Great Northern trains to Cambridge and Hertfordshire also start here.
St Pancras International is directly across the road. It is the station for Eurostar trains to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam, and for trains to the East Midlands and Kent. If you are catching Eurostar, tell us, and we will drop you at St Pancras rather than King's Cross.
The route across London
From Tolworth the driver usually takes the A3 north to Wandsworth, crosses the river, and heads through west-central London to reach the Marylebone Road and Euston Road. The exact line depends on traffic and road works. It is a busy route through the heart of the city, so journey times vary much more than on our airport runs.

Is a car better than the train from Tolworth?
By public transport, you would take a train from Tolworth or Surbiton to Waterloo and then the Northern line to King's Cross. That is often fine with a small bag. A car makes more sense when:
- you have large suitcases, bikes or bulky luggage
- your train leaves early, before the first trains from Tolworth get you there in time
- you are travelling as a family or group, which makes a single fare good value
- someone in your party has limited mobility and needs to avoid the Underground
Groups of up to eight can travel together in a 7 seater taxi.

Tips for King's Cross
King's Cross is home to the Platform 9¾ photo spot, which draws long queues of Harry Potter fans in the main concourse. Leave time to get past the crowds if you have a train to catch. Long LNER trains can also mean a walk of several minutes along the platform to your coach, so aim to arrive at the station 20 to 30 minutes before departure.
