A Tolworth to Heathrow taxi is one of the easiest airport runs from this part of south-west London. Heathrow is only about 14 miles away, and with no motorway needed for the usual route, a car can get you from your front door to the terminal in well under an hour at most times of day.
The usual route to Heathrow
Most of our drivers leave Tolworth on the A3, turn off at the Ace of Spades roundabout in Hook onto the A309, and follow it through Hinchley Wood to Hampton Court. From there the route crosses the Thames into Hampton and heads north through Hanworth and Feltham to the airport's southern side. It is a straightforward cross-country run that avoids central London altogether.
At busy times, or for Terminal 5, the driver may choose the A3 and the M25 instead, joining at junction 10 and leaving at junction 14. We check traffic before setting off and pick the quickest option on the day.

Which terminal?
Heathrow has four passenger terminals: 2, 3, 4 and 5. Terminal 5 is used mainly by British Airways, and Terminal 2 by many Star Alliance airlines. Airlines do move terminals from time to time, so check your booking and tell us the terminal and flight number when you book. Terminals 2 and 3 share the central area, while Terminals 4 and 5 are separate, and going to the wrong one can cost you 20 minutes.
Leaving for an early flight
For a long-haul flight, most airlines ask you to be at the terminal about three hours before departure. For short-haul flights it is usually two hours. With a 30 to 40 minute drive, that means leaving Tolworth around 3 hours 45 minutes before a long-haul departure. We are open 24 hours, so a 4am pickup is routine for us.
Coming home: flight tracking and meet and greet
When we collect you from Heathrow, we track your flight. If it lands early, the driver is there early. If it is delayed, the pickup time moves with it and you do not need to call us from the plane. You can also book meet and greet, where the driver waits for you in the arrivals hall after you have cleared baggage reclaim and customs. It is especially helpful if you have young children, lots of cases or are not used to the airport.
